I went to Barnes & Noble the other day to take a break from my homework. I thought it'd be a good chance to relax and get some leisure reading done. Well, on the way there, there was a guy sitting a few rows ahead of me on the bus. He kept bobbing his head up and down while he read his book. After a while of reading, he switched to listening to his music. His head still bobbed with the same rhythmic monotony. After a while, it started to bug me. I said to myself, How can you stand to do that all day long? Even while reading?? I couldn't help but drive myself crazy staring at the incessantly repetitious movement of his head. Ugh! Stop bobbing your head! Ugh! Stop bobbing your head--of course in time to his undulation. But finally, we arrived at the mall: I would be free of the captivating attraction to this live-action bobblehead at last.

After my relaxing hours of reading at B&N were up, I headed back to the bus stop. As I waited for the bus to arrive, my thoughts drifted back to the annoying broken-record scene I had endured for 20 minutes on my way up. I was glad I didn't have to deal with him again. The bus arrived and I was headed home. Just as it was about to pull away from the stop, the guy--yes, the guy who I had witnessed raise and lower his head over and over again for the duration of my bus trip to the mall--boarded the bus. And took the same spot. I glanced at him, and glanced away. I glanced again, and looked away as fast as I could. Yep, his head was still moving. Up and down, up and down. Being able to bear it no longer, I quickly moved to the seat in front of him. I was so glad he hadn't chosen the first seat in the bus. Two bus trips dealing with him would have given me nightmares.
