I chatted with a friend I hadn't heard from in ages. She, also a fellow Canadian, is working on her Ph.D out at Harvard. (I'm so proud of all my elementary school friends.) Both she and I having left our Toronto nest, it's not often that we get a chance to talk. But it was nice to be able to catch up. Here's an excerpt from the conversation.

Jylo: at least your anus is made to open up. urethra... not so much so.
Serenity: Right.
Jylo: ok. how did we get on this topic?
Jylo: i think this is the most diverse conversation i've had in a while.
Serenity: i have no idea. um....health insurance.
Serenity: we sort of changed topics a lot, yeah. i haven't really had such a random conversation in a while, either.
Jylo: let's see... trichomonas, canadian politics, abortion, tv, the practice, how skinny lara flynn boyle is, journal clubs, school, health insurance, wisdom teeth, pap smears... and now catheterization and rectal exams.
Serenity: hm, that *is* quite the random collection of stuff. =)
Jylo: yeah, no kidding.
Jylo: and i'm sure i missed small topics in the list somewhere too.
Serenity: i can't remember, i would have to go back and check. I think you got the major ones, though.
Jylo: oh, i skipped the whole drag queen thing.
Serenity: oh, the drag queen thing! right.

Ok, I guess not much of that conversation had to do with catching up after all...
