This whole war thing is driving me crazy. True, death and harm sure are no benefits of war, but the thing that riles me most is war's divisiveness. Everybody seems to be lashing out at everyone else. Balkanization among European countries is occurring. The scariest part is that the respective countries' populaces are mostly in agreement with their governments. Even Canadians--long-time allies of the Americans--living in the States have felt under criticism and alienation from American neighbours. I have always been proud of being Canadian, but that pride swells quite a bit when I hear my country is standing for the peacekeeping and diplomacy it believes in. If war is supposed to create peace, it's a shame that there has to be so much sundering in the process.
