To hear my brother no longer blogs left me with a feeling of emptiness. Family is such an odd thing. While hundreds of miles may separate us, there's always a tacit connectedness that is implied, even though it's not always easy to grasp. And anything that--even for just a moment--makes this connection palpable not only feels good, but also feels right. His blog was just that. As prosaic as his topics might have been, they were always interesting to me. Yes, even pictures of the food he ate. Or after-market car parts. Or the fact that he hadn't shaven in days. I suppose I'll survive without his updates. But that doesn't mean life wouldn't be richer without them.
