I am so thankful I have a gas forced-air heating system. The temperature of my whole apartment can rise 10 degrees in a matter of minutes. After a 5-minute walk home from work, I was already freezing. (And it's precisely nights like this that I'm incredibly thankful my commute is only 5 minutes...) It's -14°C (6°F) outside, -23°C (-10°F) factoring in wind chill. It's no wonder there are so few homeless people here--they're all either frozen dead or have moved out west where it's nice and warm still. Natural selection at work.
