After I got to work, I sifted through my work email, about 30 messages... found an email from one of the Blood Bank Technical Specialists congratulating me on my switch to first shift, another from the 3rd shift Lead Technologist posting my hours to be filled. The people on third shift came up to me one by one and asked about me switching to first. �Is there something you should be telling us?� asked a fellow tech. I looked at the first shift schedule and found my name penciled in; I looked at the third shift schedule and found my name crossed off. At the end of the night, the first shifters rolled and people from three different departments asked me when I start on first shift in Blood Bank. What�s the kicker? Nobody bothered to tell me that I had gotten the job. Human Resources hasn�t even offered the job to me yet. Nobody even thought to ask me if I wanted the job. Of course, I do--but that�s not the point. Apparently, people at work have known for about a week now that I�d be switching to first shift on September 22. I just found out when I came into work last night and read the email--probably among the last people to know. You�d think with all the bureaucracy that drew out the transfer process to two and a half months, they�d at least think to ask me whether I�ve changed my mind over the process of the whole summer. I�m not bitter--not at all--just a little unsure of how this company manages to function at all.
