This is what greeted me today when I logged in.
ATTENTION:

All data on defiant.msoe.edu (aka concord.msoe.edu) was lost on 11/10/03.

Unfortunately, the most recent backup was done on 11/6/03 at 8:25pm. All of
the faculty and staff data was able to be restored from the backup, however,
some student data had to be restored from backups as far back as 10/19/03. We
apoligize for this grave inconvience, and are taking the appropriate steps to
make sure that this does not happen again.

CCSD Staff
Ok, I'm pissed. I know it's bound to happen once in a while--even though you pray it never does--but it still sucks whenever it does. My blog files--I'm grateful that they're stored on Blogger's servers--schedule files, chatbox stuff (minus the actual database) and other miscellaneous files from my website and school work are stored on that computer. With my luck, I was part of the people whose stuff was restored from 10/19/03. That was 22 days before the fatal crash... over 3 weeks! One would think with a scheduled downtime every week, they could do a little better than that. My online work schedule--which I heavily rely upon, myself--shows September and October. Like that's going to do me a lot of good now. And half of all those pretty stylesheets (I'm allowed to be proud of my own work) I had written are now gone. While I should be glad that I've been given another opportunity to procrastinate now, I can't help but be incredibly frustrated. Who's running these servers anyway? Oh yeah, that's right: our wonderful CCSD staff. At least they felt the need to "apoligize" for their incompetence.
