It's a rather sad moment for me right now: Today marks the start of the conclusion of a period in my life. While graduation is still technically months away, I've already set myself in graduation mode, noting all the finalities of certain events. Oh, this is the last time I'll see spring in Milwaukee, or I won't ever have class again with my friend Lexi. But what has gotten my the saddest lately is that my Bioinformatics project is finally over. What I've been working on day after day for the past few months is finally complete: we delivered the system to our professor today. And that means I won't have reason to come back to the lab. And that means I won't have the opportunity to see my classmates any more. We've spent so many late, late nights listening to music while coding hard in the lab, sharing frosted cinnamon buns from the café downstairs ($1.06 for two on Tuesdays), binging at the nearby Chinese buffet, easing bouts of frustration with KFoulEggs and GTali... and even if I've only known these guys for less than 9 months, they've been among the truest friends I've had here. It's not important that most of our conversations deal with food (we've had 11 communal bags of bagels)--it's that we can just sit around and goof off and nobody cares. I've had such a good time with them it seems almost like a loss that I won't see them much anymore. Milwaukee has never been my home, but it comes as no surprise to me that there are many things I will miss.
